VanMeter Family | Summer 2010

The following photo session was of a family I know through a friend. I love this family and the kiddos and they hold a special place in my heart. I was working in manual which was difficult to learn, but I got some great shots! :) This was impromtu, unplanned, candid. (I use that term often, don't I?;) Thanks for stopping by and reading. I hope you enjoy these!

Adam & Katie | Summer 2010

Adam & Katie

Entrance to the yard of this family home passed down through generations
Katie kept beautiful flowers!

Main road off of the house, secluded quiet and beautiful.

Newly married, I do believe for just a year or so before these photos were taken:)

Their garden was a labor of love for Adam and he was proud of the crop he had grown and Katie was too! So we incorporated this in the shoot.:)

 Such a cute couple!

 Entrance to the garden.

This was an old, broken down pick up truck on the property that turned into an awesome photo opportunity!! Love this picture!

Adam & Katie had no formal photos taken for them as a couple and this was one of my very first shoots. I shot everything in manual versus auto which was so challenging as a new photographer. I learned quickly though! In order to capture the shot, you have to know your equipment. These two were AMAZING to work with! We had many many more photos we took. Some in a field of wheat grass, tall and gold. I used a stool and they turned out so awesome! We also shot some photos by his beloved tractor, a family heirloom! Where are these photos? Gone. Yes, you heard me right. This blog is about my journey as a photographer and I would be dishonest to omit the highs and lows. When I showed up to Brandy's to edit the photos, I noticed when I pulled them up there weren't as many as I thought I took. I scrolled, frantically, down through all the photos. Opened every folder on my flash drive. Brandy checked her hard drive...they were gone. I cried, a little. I must have some how deleted them -in camera- while reviewing them with Katie. Devastation would be a good word to use to explain my demeanor over the week following that. I assure you, it has never happened again. Lesson learned. I. take. my. time. I was still able to salvage some of this beautiful couples photos. Katie was very understanding. Through out this whole process that is one thing I have learned about people, they understand. They are patient and kind. I am sure not everyone will be, but my clients have been the best. I am so grateful to have met Katie and Adam and I wish them the absolute best for their future. Let me know what you think! As always, thanks for reading and peace to you friends. Danielle

Lough Family | Fall 2010

Photo shoot took place on private property in Franklin, West Virginia
Loved this old time feel of the photo.
This was taken in front of an original building on the property probably circa early 1930's?

This darling girl was helping her little brother explore. So sweet.:)

This photo is one of my favorites. These two are beautiful. I'm happy with the darker hue I chose for the contrast it proved defining with the tree and facial features.

This shot was taken before this little boy even had his shoes on. Love candid.
There's always beauty in the unexpected.

This shot I thought was so precious.
It illuminates her and her sweet innocent curiousity:)

This darling girl was not one to pose for the camera, at this stage in her life. She has since come to love her photo being taken:) Regardless, she ran off from our shoot and started playing in the sand. I have so many shots from this moment that turned out so wonderfully, it was painstaking to choose just one. As I have mentioned I love photography that captures the natural state of things. She was simply playing, being herself and it turned out to be a sweet, beautiful picture!

Photo booth style for the below photo's because...I couldn't choose just one! ;) Absolutely adorable!

Separate day in the garden at grammy's house :) Running and running and running!
Momma and her boy, so precious...

Her eyes are the prettiest blue...this was an early photo shoot for me. I had the tendency to darken everything...I like a classic, nostalgic look. I have since learned to lighten my photos and adjust contrast and hue etc. Regardless, she's such a beautiful darling girl! :)

I love this family, dearly. They have been a part of my life for a few years and the mother of these two always supported and encouraged my photography venture. She is one of the most genuine and kind women I know and I'm honored to call her a friend. Special thanks to this family for their love, unending support and kindness to me in all circumstances. You have blessed my life. Thank you for reading friends, peace to you. Danielle
